Susan Hiller

Susan Hiller was originally an anthropologist, which is reflected through her work’s exploration of how people view reality and the paranormal

Her installation work mainly looks into the subconscious and the paranormal, exploring how the subconscious is related to rationality

Many of her installations include video and the objects she uses usually are heavily related to the subject the piece explores. Her drawings and photography relate to the subconscious.

Channels (2013)

Channels is a large wall of screens in a form of stasis, interrupted by green wave frequencies and the voices of people recalling their near death experiences.

The piece leaves the viewer to ponder the relationship between life and death and the bridge between the two.
